Panicle fertilizer aims to raise grain number and filling, which requires nitrogen and potassium in balance: nitrogen supports panicle development while potassium moves nutrition into the grain. The 19-9-19 ratio of Jinheyong H.T. is high in both, addressing the lack of specificity in conventional evenly balanced compound fertilizers.

A high share of unfilled grains commonly follows insufficient nutrition during grain filling and potassium deficiency impairing assimilate transport.
